NSO Delivers Fourth Helideck in COMP3 Series for QatarEnergy LNG's North Field Program

Yantai, China — July 1st 2026 - North Sea Offshore (NSO) has completed and shipped the aluminum helideck for the RP3S platform, part of a four-unit scope NSO is supplying under Saipem's COMP3 EPCI package for QatarEnergy LNG's North Field Production Sustainability (NFPS) program, one of the largest offshore gas developments in the world.

      A Four-Platform Scope

NSO's COMP3 scope covers helidecks for four platforms: RP3S, RP5N, RP5S, and WHP13N. Each unit is fabricated at NSO's production facility in Yantai and engineered to meet the demanding operating conditions of the Middle East with high ambient temperatures, high salinity, and the structural and safety standards required for continuous offshore gas production infrastructure.

      Engineering for High-Salinity, High-Temperature Environments

Aluminum is a deliberate material choice for offshore helideck structures operating in Gulf conditions. Compared to steel, aluminum offers a significantly better strength-to-weight ratio, reducing the load imposed on the supporting platform structure, while its natural corrosion resistance is critical for structures exposed to sustained high salinity and heat.

NSO's helideck systems are class-approved and patented, and are engineered as modular, bolted structure, eliminating the need for on-site welding or fabrication and enabling faster, more predictable installation once units arrive offshore.

Delivering four helidecks as a coordinated series rather than as isolated one-off order places different demands on an EPCI supplier than a single unit does. Engineering and production schedules must be sequenced against the broader COMP3 fabrication and installation timeline, with consistency maintained across every unit in the series.

With RP3S now delivered, NSO's engineering and production teams continue work on the remaining platforms in the COMP3 scope.
